Locals Appointed to NKU, EKU, and KCTCS Boards

Four from Northern Kentucky have been appointed by Governor Matt Bevin to the boards of Northern Kentucky University, Eastern Kentucky University, and the Kentucky Community & Technical College System.

At NKU, Bevin tapped Ft. Mitchell attorney Gregory Shumate to serve on the Board of Regents. The Republican activist and attorney with Frost Brown Todd replaces Democratic activist and Ft. Mitchell businessman Nathan Smith, whose term has expired.

Covington resident and businessman Normand Desmarais was also named to the NKU Board of Regents. Both Shumate's and Desmarais's terms expire on June 30, 2022.

It was a busy news day at the Desmarais household.

City of Covington finance director Lisa Desmarais was appointed to the KCTCS Board of Regents. Her term expires in July, 2022.

Attorney Lewis Diaz, of Union, was appointed by the governor the Board of Regents at Eastern Kentucky University where he earned his bachelor's and master's degree, according to his bio at Dinsmore Law.
