Photos: Newport Catholic Beats Scott in Season Opener
While most teams in Northern Kentucky kicked off their football season on Friday, Newport Central Catholic welcomed Scott for a Saturday night match-up.
The Thoroughbreds ran away from the Eagles early and never looked back.
New Cath blew the game open in the second quarter with four touchdowns, and held Scott to under 80 offensive yards in the first half. Senior Patrick Henschen scored four touchdowns for the 'Breds, while senior Austin Neff added two more touchdowns. Scott was able to add a couple of touchdowns late in the game to make the score look closer than it was.
The final score was New Cath 47, Scott 21.
Next week, New Cath heads to Cooper, which is recovering from a tough loss at Highlands on Friday, while Scott plays host to Dixie, which will be playing its first game of the season.
