Photos: River Cities Relay Brings Hundreds to NKY Riverfront for Race
What a fun night for the inaugural River Cities Relay, a riverfront race that led runners (usually in teams of 4) across Newport, Bellevue, Dayton, and Covington.
The race - created by a class from Leadership Northern Kentucky - drew roughly 500 competitors, and snaked along the riverfront from the Purple People Bridge in Newport through downtown Bellevue and along Dayton's Manhattan Harbor, then back around and to Covington Landing, and up to Devou Park, and back to the bridge.
Matthew Behrensmeyer was the fastest individual male runner in the race, finished at 1:33:37, while Eileen Strempel was the first individual female to cross the line, at a time of 2:15:38.
