Cold Spring Police Call for Drivers' Attention after Officer Injured in Crash
A Cold Spring police officer was transported to the hospital after a crash on Thursday night.
The Cold Spring Police Department reported on Friday that three officers responded to a traffic stop on Alexandria Pike (U.S. 27) near Mr. Spotless Car Wash at around 9:30 p.m. Thursday. There were two police cruisers on the scene, each with the emergency lights activated.
While the officers were dealing with the alleged traffic infraction, another vehicle traveling in the right lane headed southbound on U.S. 27 struck the rear cruiser, pushing it into the front cruiser.
One officer was transported to the hospital for possible minor injuries. The Campbell County Police is investigating the crash.
The Cold Spring Police Department issued this statement on Friday:
PLEASE, if you see an emergency vehicle or tow truck on the side of the road with lights activated, or any disabled vehicle for that matter, move over from the adjacent lane or slow down to a safe passing speed if you are unable move over. Not only is it safer, but it is also the law to move over for stopped emergency vehicles. We were fortunate to have only minor injuries in this collision and not suffer a loss of life.
