Taylor Creek Overlook Park Opens in Newport & Bellevue
It has been years in the making and on Wednesday, the new Taylor Creek Overlook Park opened on the Newport-Bellevue line.
Southbank Partners, the Cities of Bellevue and Newport celebrated the opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that featured remarks from State Rep. Dennis Keene (D-Wilder), Bellevue Mayor Ed Riehl, and Newport Mayor Jerry Peluso.
In 2013, the project was awarded a $10,000 grant from Duke Energy
In February, 2015, a rendering of what the park would look like was released, showing the ultimate goal of the project, a $3.8 million effort to fix substantial deterioration at the site, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, as reported in an earlier story by The River City News.
Ultimately, the Taylor Creek Overlook Park will become an integral part of the Riverfront Commons project because it stabilizes and improves the river bank area where the multi-purpose trail that connects Ludlow in the west to Ft. Thomas in the east will run. The riverfront greenspace will also offer a view of the Cincinnati skyline.
