Teen Killed in Boone County Crash; Man, Boy Injured
A teenager is dead after an early morning crash in Boone County.
Two vehicles collided on Pleasant Valley Road at Woodcreek Drive near Florence at around 7:10 a.m. Thursday, according to the Boone County Sheriff's Office. A 17-year old girl, who was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo, was killed. She was from Burlington. Her name has not yet been released.
According to the sheriff's office, the girl's vehicle went left of center and struck a 2011 Ford Escape SUV driven by Michael Robinson, 36, also of Burlington. His son, Cameron, 8, was a passenger in the backseat. Both were transported to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Florence for treatment. Details on their injuries were not immediately available.
A preliminary investigation indicates that the teen driver went off the roadway and overcorrected causing the car to go into a yaw into the path of the Ford. Pleasant Valley Road was closed until approximately 9:40 a.m. while investigators processed the scene.
