Next Downtown Covington Apartment Project Accounced
A new downtown Covington apartment project was announced this week.
Orleans Development - the firm behind such downtown residential projects as The Boone Block Lofts, Pike Star Lofts, and Market Lofts - scooped up a pair of buildings on the 800 block of Madison Avenue.
The Madison Flats will include 13 one-bedroom apartments and 5 commercial storefronts. In the announcement, Orleans Development said that it hopes to fill the need for "small, economical, and beautifully-designed apartments". Rents are expected to be between $600 and $875 per month.
Downtown Covington has seen significant gains in residential projects downtown, with Orleans and its leader Tony Kreutzjans playing a big role in that. Orleans is also being courted to develop the Bradford Building at Park Place and Scott Boulevard, just north of the Boone Block. The Bradford was recently purchased by the Catalytic Fund, which frequently works with Orleans and Kreutzjans.
Near the forthcomign Madison Lofts, ground was broken recently on Duveneck Square - a project that, after two phases, will bring nearly 200 new apartments next to Braxton Brewing Company at Seventh & Washington Streets. Two similarly large residential projects will soon be underway in Mainstrasse Village.
