Shooting in Covington Lands One in Hospital, Two in Custody
One person was shot and two others were taken into custody following gunfire in Covington on Friday afternoon.
Police responded to 514 Patton Street in the eastern part of the city after receiving a report of a shooting at 1:17 p.m.
One person was found shot and was transported to University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment. The person's condition was not released publicly.
Covington Police and officers from Newport and Park Hills police departments began a search for two suspects who were believed to have fled to the eastern side of the Licking River flood wall. That's where units from the north and southern ends of the city converged, ultimately capturing the pair near the 12th Street Bridge.
"We were able to flush both suspects that we believe were involved in the shooting out from the wood line and both are now safely in custody," said Brian Steffen, assistant police chief in Covington.
The suspects were taken to police headquarters for questioning. They have not yet been identified.
