17 New Lofts Coming to Downtown Covington

More new loft apartments are coming to downtown Covington.

Orleans Development announced on Thursday that the historic property at 423 Greenup Street, previously used by Transitions, Inc., will become 17 loft-style apartments.

Orleans - led by developer Tony Kreutzjans - has been behind some notable downtown Covington residential projects like the Boone Block Lofts, Market Lofts, and Pike Star Lofts. This latest project is being called, Greenpoint.

"I'm really excited about the momentum in Covington, but there are still some great historic buildings that need to be developed," Kreutzjans said. "With Greenpoint, we will restore an underutilized building and, at the same time, create market-rate lofts in the Licking Riverside District."

Built in the 1920s, the building was once a warehouse for Kenton Pharmacal Company.

When Orleans, which is also working on the new Madison Flats on the 800 block of Madison Avenue, is finished, Greenpoint will board three garden units, seven first-floor units, and seven second-floor units.

Each unit will have an open, modern floor plan with high-end finishes, including dark, hardwood floors, quartz countertops, and stainless steel appliances. There will be glossy white cabinets and open shelving to lend a contemporary design to the space. Greenpoint will have off-street parking and additional storage units in the basement.

Orleans Development is partnering with the Catalytic Fund, Hub & Weber Architects, and Tischbein Design on the project, and Republic Bank is providing the financing. Expected completion date is January of next year.
