Man Shot, Killed in Covington
A man is dead after a late night shooting in Covington early Sunday morning.
Covington Police responded to a call of a person shot on West 26th Street at around 2:08 a.m. Sunday.
Upon arrival, officers found Zachary Pouncy suffering from a gunshot wound.
Pouncy, 20, was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Covington where he was pronounced dead.
Police arrested Dhezon Gray, 20, who was still on scene at 39 West 26th Street. He is in the Kenton County Detention Center where he is charged with second degree manslaughter.
In a news release on Sunday morning, Covington Police stated that Gray is believed to be the only suspect involved and that the circumstances surround the killing are still under investigation.
Gray will be arraigned in Kenton District Court on Monday morning.
Pouncy's death was part of the second fatal shooting in Covington in the past two weeks. Brandon Rice, 33, died from injuries sustained in a shooting in City Heights on June 8.
