Another Movie Shooting Around Northern Kentucky
Hollywood has returned to Northern Kentucky.
It has been a bright stretch of years for the River Cities and Cincinnati as entertainment superstars like Robert Redford, John Travolta, and Nicole Kidman star in pictures shot here.
Redford, in particular, delighted local cinephiles when he spent time here in the spring shooting The Old Man and the Gun in downtown Covington, Newport, and Latonia.
Now comes the latest picture, which, based on clues, we believe to be one called Haunt.
The plot: On Halloween, a group of friends encounter an “extreme” haunted house that promises to feed on their darkest fears. The night turns deadly as they come to the horrifying realization that some nightmares are real.
The film is written and directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, a pair of 33-year old friends from Iowa who are rapidly rising in Hollywood. Not only are they shooting Haunt, but another script of theirs, A Quiet Place, is underway in New York where it stars Emily Blunt and John Krasinski (who also directs).
A crew has been spotted camped in the grassy field to the south of Lee's Famous Recipe at 6th Street & Scott Boulevard in Covington and on Tuesday were shooting around Pike Street and at Octave, a new jazz lounge on Madison Avenue. Around town, spotters have told The River City News that they saw film activity at a couple of old homes in Covington's Licking Riverside neighborhood and around the old Trauth Dairy buildings in Newport.
The movie's cast was announced this morning.
