Northern Kentucky Beats Urbana in Final Exhibition

Northern Kentucky put together a pair of solid halves to down Urbana, 81-26, on Saturday afternoon in an exhibtion game at BB&T Arena.

It was the final pre-season game before things get real next week when the Norse open the regular season on Friday night against East Tennessee.

Drew McDonald led the Norse with 17 points while Jeff Garrett added 10 points and 8 rebounds. Tre Cobbs added 10, while Carson Williams, Dantez Walton, and Tyler Sharpe all put in 9.

A 3-pointer by McDonald just fifteen seconds into the game put the Norse up early and they never looked back and never trailed in the game.

No Urbana player scored in double figures, and NKU forced 29 turnovers, including 19 steals.

NKU shot 51 percent from the field and 11 players scored.

The Norse outrebounded Urbana, 49 to 23.

NKU plays East Tennessee on Friday with tip-off set for 7 p.m.


NKU women beat Asbury

The NKU women showed up on Saturday with a 94-55 win over Asbury in an exhibition match-up. 

Ten Norse scored points, with seven reaching double figures. Molly Glick led the team with 13 points while Grace White and Grayson Rose added 12 each.

Kailey Coffey scored 10 points and had 8 rebounds in the game.

NKU starts the regular season next Saturday against Kent State at BB&T Arena. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
