Photos: New Mural Unveiled in Downtown Covington
For the second time this week, a new mural was unveiled in Covington.
Renaissance Covington celebrated its This Covington Is Our Covington campaign with a brunch and fundraiser, and a pair of events on Saturday. (On Wednesday, the Covington Business Council and Sanitation District 1 showed off a new mural, too.)
In the afternoon, that included the release of a new mural on Davon Auto (17 West 8th Street) created by local artist Phil Rowland. The still-unfinished piece of art shows a detailed map of Covington from a different era.
The mural is about 70 percent complete and suffered delays due to recent weather.
Prior to the mural unveiling, Renaissance Covington hosted a brunch at Madison Event Center and then an open house at 801 Madison, known locally as the old downtown Frisch's, where the organization previously hosted a holiday pop-up shopping mall.
There was a silent auction, which included items like the signs from the recently concluded Look Here! installation, in which old photos were placed in view of what currently exists on the site of the historic photos.
Renaissance Covington was awarded the 2017 Great American Main Street honor from Main Street America.
