Pedestrian Killed in Florence After Being Hit by 2 Cars
A man is dead after being hit by two cars late Monday night in Florence.
The man was struck on the 8200 block of Dixie Highway near where it intersects Richardson Road at around 10 p.m. Monday.
This story has been updated with the victim's identity and with a correction related to the emergency response and to the number of drivers being sought.
While lying on the ground after being hit once, a second vehicle came along and struck him.
Boone County Sheriff's Office identified the man as Nicholas Arthur, 32, of Cincinnati. He was pronounced dead at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence. He had been walking with friends at the time but separated from them at another part of the roadway when he was hit.
An earlier version of this story, citing other media reports, indicated that Arthur was airlifted to a hospital in Cincinnati. That was not correct. RCN regrets the error.
The driver of the second vehicle stopped, but the first driver did not.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Office Reconstruction Unit is investigating the collision and asks that anyone with information as to the identity of the run vehicle and/or its occupants to please call the Boone County Sheriff’s Office at (859) 334-2175 or Crime Stoppers at (513) 852-3040.
