Former Remke Markets President Dies at 41

The last member of the Remke family to run their namesake grocery has died.

He died at his home in Villa Hills.

He is survived by his wife Andrea Remke and their children, Bradyen, 10, Mia, 7, Therese, 7, and Payton, 5, as well as his parents, William R. and Sherill Vocke Remke, and two sisters.

Remke led the family grocery business until earlier this year when Findlay, Oh.-based Fresh Encounter acquired the Remke Markets line.

He was a well-known swimmer and his relay team set a record in 1990 at Beechwood Swim Club in Ft. Mitchell, a record that still stands, according to his obituary. In 1994, Remke graduated from St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati where he was a member of state championship-winning swim teams. He went on to graduate cum laude from the University of Notre Dame in 1998 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He earned an MBA from Notre Dame in 2006.

Remke was the fourth generation leader of his family's grocery business.

In addition to the business, Remke was a volunteer firefighter in Petersburg and took helicopter flying lessons.

According to the obituary, Remke battled unexplained kidney failure/disease at age 17, but lived a normal, healthy life with a transplanted kidney for over twenty years. He was in good health and active when he developed cancer in 2016.
