Gateway Receives Laptop Donation for Women in Manufacturing Program
Gateway Community & Technical College received twelve laptops from Chris Burns, marketing and education manager of Cincinnati-based Encore Technologies.
The laptops will be used to help Gateway’s Raise the Floor students that may need a computer while attending school.
“We are grateful to Mr. Burns for his generous donation,” said Dr. Fernando Figueroa, president/CEO Gateway Community & Technical College. “We’re looking forward to providing more assistance to students in the Raise the Floor program.”
Raise the Floor recruits, trains, places, and supports women in advanced manufacturing careers. Since its inception in 2014, the program has trained approximately 81 women for advanced manufacturing careers in northern Kentucky.
"Raise the Floor bridges the digital divide by expanding opportunities for people to earn living wages,” said Burns. “It's an innovative way to bring underemployed and unemployed into the workforce."
