Northern Kentucky Picks Up Fourth Straight Win, Outlasts Milwaukee, 54-52

Northern Kentucky picked up its fourth straight win Thursday night, holding off Milwaukee 54 to 52 at BB&T Arena.

The Norse are now 18-7 overall and 11-2 in the Horizon League.

Drew McDonald led NKU with his 12th double-double of the season, putting up 16 points at 10 rebounds. Tyler Sharpe added 12 in his first start of the season.\

Milwaukee (13-14, 6-8) cut NKU's lead to two with 1:02 remaining and the Panthers had the final possession of the game but Jordan Bell's jumper rolled out and McDonald blocked Bryce Barnes's last-second shot.

The game was tight throughout. Northern Kentucky took a 27 to 24 lead at the halftime break, but the Panthers would take a 31 to 30 lead, and the teams would continue to trade buckets.

The Norse did not shoot well, hitting just 41 percent from the floor and 6 of 21 3-point attempts, but Milwaukee shot worse, with 36 percent from the field and 6 of 24 from beyond the arc.

NKU is back in action on Saturday when Green Bay (8-16, 5-8) rolls into Highland Heights. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and the game will broadcast live on CW Cincinnati. The game marks homecoming for the Norse.
