River Rising: Flood Warning Issued for Northern Kentucky
There is a flood warning for Northern Kentucky areas along the Ohio River.
The National Weather Service reported that the river had reached 51.1 feet Sunday morning. Flood stage is 52 feet. Minor flooding is forecast when the Ohio passes flood stage after midnight.
From there, the river will continue to rise to near 55.8 feet by early Wednesday morning before starting to fall again on Friday morning.
Expect widespread backwater flooding along creeks and streams, and areas along Kentucky Route 8 to be impacted.
More rainfall is expected Tuesday through Saturday.
The rising waters will be accompanied by unseasonably warm temperatures.
On Monday, the high is expected to reach 68 while Tuesday is even warmer with cloudy skies forecast with a high near 78.
