River Continues to Rise, Covington Closes Gate
The Ohio River has risen high enough that the City of Covington closed its flood gate at Covington Landing.
Sidewalks are also blocked off along the riverfront.
Newport has not yet activated its flood gate but some businesses, like Hooters and Beer Sellar, were forced to close because of the rising water.
Parts of Smale Park in Cincinnati were also covered by water.
The river is expected to reach its high point on Wednesday.
The area is under a flood warning through Friday morning.
