Senior Night Brings Northern Kentucky's 20th Win of the Year

Senior Night brought a big win for Northern Kentucky, as the Norse bounced back from Friday night's heartbreaker at Wright State.

NKU beat Youngstown State 70 to 51 on Monday night at BB&T Arena to improve to 20-8 overall and 13-3 in the Horizon League.

Seniors Lavona Holland II, Jordan Garnett, and Nick Ayers were recognized for their contributions to the program.

In the game, Drew McDonald led all players with 27 points and 12 rebounds, his 15th double-double of the season. Garnett and Carson Williams added 10 points apiece, while Holland turned in 7.

The Norse used an 18 to 5 run over the final seven minutes to pull away and seal the win.

NKU shot 44 percent on the night and hit 7 of 22 3-point attempts.

With its 20th win, NKU marks back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time since becoming an NCAA Division I program in 2013.

The Norse are back in action at Illinois-Chicago on Friday night. Tip-off is 8 p.m.

Norse women fall to Youngstown State

The NKU women lost a close one, 60 to 59, against Youngstown State in the first game at BB&T on Monday night.

The Norse were led by Mikayla Terry, who played her last home game in black and gold. She scored 14 points in the losing effort. Jazmyne Geist added 10 and Taryn Taugher scored 8.

NKU drops to 8-19 overall and 6-10 in the Horizon League.
