Outdoor Patio Bar, 3 More Restaurants On Way to RiverCenter's New Piazza
RiverCenter's plaza continues to undergo changes.
Now the site has a new name, stylized as PiAzza at RiverCenter, a change from the short-lived "Festival at RiverCenter", which was conceived when RiverCenter Entertainment, a subsidiary of Corporex, began to renovate the gateway to the Covington office towers.
Since last year, three new restaurants have opened: FIRE, Butler's Pantry, and Biscuits to Burgers. On Monday, the company announced that three more restaurants are in the works, but no further details were offered.
There will also be a new outdoor patio bar. Permanent outdoor fire pits have been installed and other improvements are in the planning stages.
The announcement follows the City of Covington endorsing RiverCenter Entertainment's plan to transform the plaza into an entertainment district, allowing alcohol consumption in the public realm. The plan awaits state approval now. It would be only the fourth such designation in Kentucky, including sites in Louisville, Lexington, and Newport on the Levee.
PiAzza at RiverCenter will host its first major event in early May, a news release said. Further details were not released.
Additionally, there will be a cornhole league this summer, and event planners will be able to rent the space for graduation parties, rehearsal dinners, or other group gatherings.
