Southbank Shuttle Offering Free Rides While Roebling Bridge is Closed
The Southbank Shuttle will offer free rides beginning Thursday through May 31 while the Roebling Suspension Bridge is closed.
TANK announced the free rides this week.
“TANK recognizes that the closure of the Roebling Suspension Bridge has created a challenge for our customers and the residents and businesses in Covington, particularly those in the Park Place and Greenup area," said Andrew Aiello, TANK General Manager. "Offering free fare on the Trolley is a way to say thank-you for sticking with us through this temporary situation. The Southbank Shuttle Trolley is a great service for locals for every day trips and for tourists that are experiencing our riverfront and going to events like Reds games. We’re excited to offer an opportunity for everyone to try it free of charge.”
Southbank Shuttle is a trolley-style bus that travels through Covington, Newport, Bellevue, and Cincinnati. It is re-routing during the bridge closure but will pick up at all regular stops.
The Roebling Bridge was closed last month after a bootleg cab crashed into the span while traveling from Cincinnati to Covington. That driver faces charges.
The Southbank Shuttle runs every fifteen minutes on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 6 a.m. to midnight, and Saturday 10 a.m. to midnight.
For Reds games, added buses begin operating more frequently and offer extended game-day service two hours before game time. The extra service continues for up to an hour after the end of the game.
