Teachers Wear Black to #BlackOutBevin Following Governor's Remarks

Governor Matt Bevin's guarantee Friday that children in Kentucky were sexually assaulted, tried drugs, and ingested poison because schools were closed so that teachers could advocate in Frankfort.

The Republican governor made the remarks after the General Assembly, led by his own party, overrode two vetoes of bills related to revenue and the two-year state budget.

His words were met with widespread condemnation from members of both parties and the general public as video of the remarks circulated nationally on social media.

On Sunday, the governor responded to the criticism.
