NKU's Jacob Poore Wins Horizon League Golf Title
Northern Kentucky junior Jacob Poore won the 2018 Horizon League Individual Championship, shooting at 1-under for the tournament.
NKU finished fifth as a team at Howey-in-the-Hill, Florida.
With the win, Poore qualifies for the NCAA Regionals.
Poore, a Union native and graduate of Ryle High School, dominated the back nine, shooting 3-under over the course of three rounds. He also led the field in schoring at 4-under on the par-5 holes.
His twelve birdies were more than any other player in the field.
The win marks Poore's first championship. He finished second at the 2017 Wright State Invitational.
Cleveland State won the team title.
By virtue of his victory in the Horizon League Championship, Poore has qualified for the NCAA Regionals. The selection show for the 2018 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship is scheduled for May 2 at 5:30 p.m., on the Golf Channel.
