Roller Girls Return with Teacher Appreciation Bout in Covington

The Black-n-Bluegrass Rollergirls are back in action in May with home matches taking place at Hits Indoor Baseball Sports Complex (3785 Lake Park Drive, Covington).

The full-contact all-female roller derby team supports and features nonprofits and businesses as part of its "Love the Cov" and Big Hits and Big Hearts" campaigns.

The team also offers "Love of Derby" classes to help people learn to skate and play roller derby.

Matches feature family-friendly entertainment that is outside the box and played on a flat, oval track. The sport of roller derby is a full-contact sport played on quad-skates that date back to the Great Depression and had been revitalized into the sport it is known as today.

The Black-n-Bluegrass Roller Girls' next home bout will take place on May 19 for Teachers Appreciation Night. Tickets are $10 or $5 for teachers and librarians with a work-badge. Doors open at 4 p.m. Juniors play at 5 p.m. and the Black-n-Bluegrass Roller Girls take the track at 7 p.m. (Event Link Here)

BBRG is a skater-owned league that is operated by the skaters, for the skaters.
