Listen: Democratic Candidates for House District 61 Debate at RCN
House District 61 is one of two open seats in Northern Kentucky's legislative caucus (the other is House District 65, mostly comprised of Covington and northern Kenton County).
The sprawling district encompasses all of Grant County, good parts of Kenton and Scott counties, and one precinct in Boone County.
Darrell Link is the former judge/executive in Grant County and Susan Back is a counselor at Simon Kenton High School.
In a friendly debate hosted by The River City News and moderated by editor & publisher Michael Monks, also the news director at 106.7 WNKR in Dry Ridge, the candidates addressed wide-ranging topics such as Governor Matt Bevin's relationship with state educators, the impact of the Ark Encounter on Grant County, the Brent Spence Bridge project and proposed Eastern Bypass, incentives for films to shoot in the area, marijuana, and more.
The winner of the Democratic primary will face the winner of the Republican primary - between Savannah Maddox and Michael Fletcher - in November.
