Facing Another Murder Trial, Shayna Hubers Seeks to Marry Fellow Campbell Inmate
She is awaiting a new trial later this year where she is accused of killing a former boyfriend in Highland Heights six years ago.
But before then, Shayna Hubers wants to marry a fellow inmate at the Campbell County Detention Center.
According to multiple reports, Hubers, 27, requested a marriage license from the Campbell County Clerk's office to marry Richard McBee, 41. McBee is lodged in Newport on a first degree robbery charges. Reports indicate that McBee once served time in a Colorado prison.
Other reports identify McBee as a transgender woman who now uses the name Unique Taylor.
Hubers told WCPO that McBee is her soulmate.
In 2012, she killed former boyfriend Ryan Poston, shooting him six times in high Highland Heights apartment.
Hubers was convicted of murder and sentence to 40 years in prison, but it was later learned that a juror was a convicted felon. Campbell County Judge Fred Stine ruled that was enough to grant Hubers a new trial.
She says she killed Poston in self-defense.
