NKY Congressman Says He Supports Ohio Rep. Amid Allegations

Northern Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie is showing his support for Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), amid allegations of sexual abuse within the Ohio State University wrestling program while Jordan was a coach.

Jordan is accused of knowing about the abuse that allegedly took place in the 1980s and 1990s. In April, the university announced an independent investigation into former sports physician Richard Strauss, who is accused of groping athletes during appointments.

Seven wrestlers from the era accused Jordan of knowing about the alleged abuse. He has denied it.

Massie (R-Ky.) said on Twitter that he supports Jordan. "I support Jim Jordan. He has tremendous integrity. I have faith in the American people and I believe most recognize a baseless smear campaign they see it. And no, I’m not even a member of the Freedom Caucus," Massie tweeted.

Jordan is considered to be a possible frontrunner to replace House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) if the Republicans keep control of the House in November. Ryan is not seeking reelection and Jordan is popular with conservative groups.
