Motorcyclist Dies Two Weeks After Crash on 275

The man who crashed his motorcycle on I-275 on June 29 has died.

Joseph Iles, 19, passed away on Tuesday.

His mother, Mary Jo Iles, who kept family, friends, and the community updated through Facebook posts throughout Iles's fight to stay alive at a local hospital, posted the news.

She said that Iles was surrounded by family and friends, with Eminem playing. "I heard his first heart beat and I felt his last," Mary Jo Iles wrote on Facebook. "He went with dignity and grace."

Fort Wright Police said on Friday, June 29, that the crash happened at about 1:30 p.m. and involved three vehicles and a motorcycle. Iles was hit from behind and thrown into the left emergency lane.

He was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center with critical life-threatening injuries.

The family launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise $20,000 to assist with medical expenses. As of this writing, the campaign has raised more than $14,000 from more than 300 people.
