"Military service provides a rich background of training and experience, but those who have served often struggle to convert military jargon into transferable civilian terms," said Dr. Vicki Berling, executive director of the Sullivan University Center for Learning-Northern Kentucky. "This workshop will help active duty and veteran service members build a hard-hitting resume and cover letter."
"Participants will be able to create their own personal 'brand' and showcase their unique and specific skill sets," Dr. Berling said.
Workshop topics will include:
- Understand the objectives of a resume and role of audience
- Learn the types of resumes
- Learn general formatting guidelines and purpose of each component of the resume
- Focus on qualitative and quantitative accomplishments
- Learn how and when to use a cover letter
The workshop will feature insight, instruction and expertise from Dr. Berling, Patricia Borne of CEO Resources and Blanche Gaynor of Writing Enhancement Services.
