Newport Developer Wins Preservation Kentucky's Young Preservationist Award

Preservation Kentucky awarded its Barbara Hulette Excellence as a Young Preservationist Award to Newport developer Mark Ramler.

The 33-year old was honored for his "careful and thoughtful attention to the historic integrity of his numerous renovation projects, preservation of endangered buildings, and exemplary model of historic rehabilitation throughout Northern Kentucky."

The award is given annually to people under the age of 40 who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in historic preservation endeavors.

Ramler is president and founder of Mansion Hill Properties, a real estate development and construction company that has renovated more than a dozen historic homes and several historic commercial buildings.

Later this year, Ramler will finish work on his twentieth building.

Last week, The River City News reported that Ramler is co-developing the rehab of Jerry's Jug House in Newport's East Row, which will reopen with the same name and an updated look.
