NKU Beats Morehead State, 93-71
Northern Kentucky picked up its seventh win in eight games on Tuesday night, winning at Morehead State, 93-71.
NKU (7-1) was led by Tyler Sharpe's career-high 28 points and a triple-double by Drew McDonald who had 12 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists.
McDonald's achievement represents just the second time in program history that a player recorded double-figure stats in three categories (the last came in 2001 when Craig Conley scored 24 points with 10 rebounds and 11 assists).
Zaynah Robinson added 20 points, his most at NKU, while Dantez Walton scored 15, including three 3-pointers.
The Norse started the game slow, trailing the Eagles 21-16 but used an 11-0 run to storm ahead. NKU led 46-38 at halftime.
NKU scored 7 unanswered points to start the second half, building a 15-point lead, 53-38.
Another run of 9 unanswered points put the Norse up big, 67-44.
Northern Kentucky is back on the court Friday when the Norse host UMBC at BB&T Arena. The Retrievers were the first team ever to beat a number-1 seed in the NCAA Tournament as a 16-seed last season.
