Photos: NKU Defeats UMBC, 78-60

Northern Kentucky had no trouble putting away last season's NCAA tournament darlings on Friday night at BB&T Arena.

The Norse outpaced the UMBC Retrievers, 78-60, improving to 8-1 on the season.

Though NKU fell behind early, the Norse ran away from UMBC (4-4) with a shocking 30 to 2 run to close out the first half, and to lead at halftime by 18.

Northern Kentucky came out hot in the second half, too. The Norse drained 7 of 8 shots to start, including 4 of 4 from behind the arc.

NKU shot 55 percent from the field for the game.

Drew McDonald led the Norse with 21 points while Dantez Walton added 19. Tyler Sharpe scored 14, include 3 three-pointers. Zaynah Robinson and Jalen Tate each added 10.
