Northern Kentucky Beats Miami, Oh., 72-66
Northern Kentucky ended a two-game skid on Sunday night with a win over Miami, Oh., 72-66, at BB&T Arena in Highland Heights.
Four Norse scored in double figures to propel NKU to the win. Drew McDonald led the Norse with 21 points and 10 rebounds, his fifth double-double of the year. Zaynah Robinson scored 19, Tyler Sharpe had 15, and Dantez Walton added 10.
Northern Kentucky is now 9-3 on the season while Miami falls to 6-5.
After trailing at the half, NKU opened the second half with a 9-3 run to take a 42-37 lead. With the score tied at 55, the Norse used another run, scoring 7 unanswered, to retake the lead, 62-55.
The tight game featured nine ties and 13 lead changes.
NKU held Miami to 39.2 percent shooting in the game, and 24 percent from beyond the arc.
Northern Kentucky hosts Northern Illinois on Thursday at 7 p.m.
This will be the second time these teams have played this season. NKU won the earlier game on the road in double overtime, 88-85.
