Bevin Appoints Northern Kentuckians to State Boards & Commissions

(Editor's note: RCN has typically published reports when local people are appointed by the governor to state boards and commissions, but the series fell off at the end of 2018. We hope to resume periodically publishing these lists when possible. -Michael Monks)

Since the beginning of 2019, Governor Matt Bevin has appointed several Northern Kentucky residents to state boards and commissions.

Here is a rundown of those appointed so far this year:

Parole Board

The Parole Board is composed of nine members appointed by the governor to a four-year staggered term. Each board member must have at least five years of actual experience in the fields of penology, corrections work, law enforcement, sociology, law, education, social work, medicine, or a combination thereof, or must have served five years previously on the Parole Board. The board must study cases of those priosners up for parole, conduct hearings for granting parole, issue warrants for violating parole, and determine the period of supervision for those granted parole.

Two Northern Kentuckians were among the four recently appointed by the governor.

  • Patty Wininger, of Dry Ridge, is a retired state employee. She will serve for a term expiring June 30, 2022
  • Brenda Beers-Reineke, of Crestview Hills, is an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney. She will serve for a term expiring July 15, 2022

Kentucky Lottery Corporation Board of Directors

The Kentucky Lottery Corporation Board of Directors is composed of eight members, seven of whom are appointed by the Governor and require Senate confirmation. The Board controls and regulates all aspects of the lottery, including games, prizes, and method of sales in Kentucky.

One from Northern Kentucky was appointed:

  • Emily Moore, of Burlington, is a business owner. She will serve for a term expiring Nov. 28, 2021

Kentucky Public Employees Deferred Compensation Authority Board

The Kentucky Public Employees Deferred Compensation Authority is composed of seven members, four of whom are appointed by the Governor, which serve as trustees of and administers the Kentucky State Public Employees Compensation Trust Fund.

One from Northern Kentucky was appointed:

  • Kristopher J. Kellinghaus, of Fort Thomas, is an investment advisor. He will serve for a term expiring Jan. 16, 2023

Kentucky Board of Landscape Architects

The Kentucky Board of Landscape Architects is an independent state agency whose purpose is to protect the public by administering and enforcing the statutes and regulations governing the practice of Landscape Architecture in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

One from Northern Kentucky was appointed:

  • Brock M. MacKay, of Verona, is a landscape architect. He will represent landscape architects and serve for a term expiring Feb. 1, 2022
