Girls Basketball: Ryle to Play for Kentucky State Title

Ryle will play for the Kentucky girls basketball state championship on Sunday.

The Raiders (31-5) beat Owensboro Catholic (29-7), 55-43, in the semifinals on Saturday at Rupp Arena in Lexington.

Brie Crittendon led the Raiders with 19 points while Lauren Schwartz added 16 and Juliet McGregor scored 15.

Ryle trailed briefly, early in the first quarter but took a 25-19 lead to halftime. The Raiders maintained that 6-point lead through the third quarter before pulling away in the fourth.

The champions of the 9th Region will take their 10-game winning streak to the Rupp floor on Sunday at 2 p.m. where the Raiders will face 12th Region champions Southwestern (27-5).
