The Fraternal Order of Police in Covington is offering up a scholarship to students, and the Crescent Springs-Villa Hills Fire Department is announcing its annual fish fry.
The FOP scholarship is worth $500 and is available to a high school senior that lives in Covington.
Applications are available via email or from the school’s counselor. An application form and an essay are required. Students must write a short, original, previously unpublished essay answering the question: "What does living in Covington mean to me?" The essay must be between 400 and 700 words in length
Meanwhile, it's almost fish fry season again and the Crescent Springs-Villa Hills Fire Department will be back each Friday night with one of its own.
The fry starts on Friday, March 3 from 4 to 8 p.m.
The department will feature its beer-battered fish sandwich or dinner, a shrimp dinner, or chicken fingers, and side items like onion rings, french fries, cole slaw, chips, and mac and cheese. Beer and soft drinks are also available.
This fish fry has run continuously since 1954 and proceeds benefit various charities supported by the volunteer firefighters organization.
Find it at 777 Overlook Road in Crescent Springs.
