Heavy Storms, Strong Winds Hammer Region
Two rounds of powerful storms crossed Northern Kentucky in the early morning hours of Wednesday, leaving thousands without power and causing heavy damage to property.
Boone County took the brunt of the power outages, and some reports indicated that nearly the entire county was without power at one point. Boone County Schools decided to close for the day, even after buses had already begun to make their rounds. Across the region, buses were stopped and students were ushered into safe spaces while the storm passed.
A tornado warning was issued for parts of the region at around 7 a.m. The heavy winds brought down trees and the heavy rainfall brought flash flood warnings with it.
More information is currently being gathered about the damage and this story will be updated when more is known.
