NKU Athletes Set Athletics Department Record for GPA
Northern Kentucky University student-athletes set a department record 3.37 GPA in the Fall 2017 semester.
This is the first time that the department has achieved higher than a 3.3 GPA during a semester. It is also the seventh-straight semester with at least a 3.2 GPA and the 13th-straight semester with at least a 3.0 GPA.
“Congratulations to our student-athletes on another banner semester in the classroom,” said Debbie Kirch, Associate Athletics Director for Compliance and Student Services/SWA. “As Northern Kentucky rapidly ascends the Division I ranks, our student-athletes continue to elevate their performance, not just on the field of play, but in the classroom as well.”
“Our student-athletes continue to excel in all that they do, and the latest department record GPA is further testament of that excellence,” said Ken Bothof, Director of Athletics.
In total, 178 student-athletes earned at least a 3.0 GPA, including 30 student-athletes who achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA during the semester. In addition, 14 of NKU’s 15 athletics programs achieved higher than a 3.0 GPA.
Three teams also set records for highest GPA in a semester for their programs. The women’s basketball team earned a program-record 3.60 GPA. The baseball team had a team-record 3.19 GPA, and the men’s golf team earned a program-best 3.17 GPA.
The women’s track and field team had the highest team GPA in the semester, as the program topped the list with a 3.604 GPA.
