Sportsmanship: Holmes, Woodland Teams Give Disabled 8th Grader His Shot
When Ethan Workman tried out for the Holmes Middle School basketball team this season, he was made the team manager.
That means, he keeps track of the points scored by the boys who suit up and play in the games.
But last week, the Bulldogs wanted their friend to join them on the court.
Workman, who has some physical disabilities, suited up in the game against Woodland Middle School. And, in the season's final game's final moments, Workman took the floor and was passed the ball, and even the Woodland players stepped aside to allow the boy to take a shot.
Workman would get three looks at the basket, missing each time - but the crowd was joyful at the sportsmanship exhibited by both teams. A video of the event has been watched on Facebook more than 44,000 times.
