Funeral for 3-Year Old Boy Killed on I-275 to Be Open to Public
The boy who died in a car crash on I-275 last week will be laid to rest this week.
The visitation for Dawson Elder, 3, will take place Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence (11382 Madison Pike).
He died on Thursday when a car driven by his mother, Megan Ritter, lost a tire. She pulled over to the emergency lane on eastbound I-275 between Taylor Mill and Wilder, and got out of the car with Elder when he had to pee.
At that moment, another vehicle driving in the emergency lane during heavy traffic crashed into them. Elder was pronounced dead at the scene.
Taylor Mill Police continue to investigate and are looking for witnesses of the crash to come forward.
Meanwhile, a Go Fund Me page has been set up for Elder's family. So far, it has more than $13,000 of its $25,000 goal. For details, click here.
