Pat Barry Joins 106.7 WNKR/105.9 WNKN as Afternoon Host

Grant County Broadcasters announced Tuesday the addition of Pat Barry to its on-air line-up and sales team. Barry has been a mainstay of radio and television in the Cincinnati market for more than four decades and will now host afternoons on 106.7 WNKR and 105.9 WNKN.

“Pat Barry is an icon of local broadcasting and we are thrilled to have him join our team,” said Peter Zolnowski, program director. Barry will replace “Peter Z” in the
afternoon slot (2 p.m. to 7 p.m.) as Zolnowski focuses more on managing the stations. “Since adding WNKN, a larger sales team, more on-air personalities, and more news in the morning, our growth has been tremendous. Listeners are finding us and really liking what they hear. Pat’s talent will only add to that.”

Grant County Broadcasters is based in Dry Ridge and launched 106.7-FM in 1992. Last year, the company added 105.9-FM, a frequency based in Middletown, Oh., after purchasing it from Northern Kentucky University. The classic country format plays on both stations with Larry B’s popular morning show (with news and traffic by Michael Monks), Gina Matthews in the late morning and early afternoon, Tom Cat Michaels and Jay Anthony on weekends, and now Pat Barry commanding the afternoon drive.

"(Owner) Jeff Zeismann has done a wonderful job of carving out a great audience for 106.7 and now with 105.9 covering everything from Northern Kentucky, Cincinnati, and Dayton he has an opportunity to build more listeners," Barry said in an email. "This will be fun. Love the music."

Barry will make his first appearance on-air on Monday, May 14.
