Letter: Welcome Change with Villa Hills Project
The following is a letter to the editor about the mixed-use development coming to the St. Walburg Monastery site in Villa Hills.
I have been a resident of Villa Hills for almost 38 years.
Until recently I have enjoyed our community and the people who live here including my neighbors who reside in the apartments at Prospect Point.
There are a few people, residents of Villa Hills, who have sent threats to the Sisters of St. Walburg, the mayor, and our council. I am appalled!
People, we need changes from time to time.
The Task Force of Villa Hills has been meeting monthly since March of 2016 on this project. The proposed development plan was preceded by a 13-month public process where over 400 people participated. The final report along with supporting traffic and market studies are available on the city’s website.
The projects approved plan includes single- and multi-family residential detached and attached housing, senior cottages, two buildings totaling approximately 43,000 sq. ft. of mixed commercial and residential uses over 17 acres of open space, and a public overlook of the Ohio River.
The multi-story building will have 187 luxury lofts/flats leasing from $1,200 to $1,600 per month.
Let progress continue. Welcome change. Meet new people. Love and live in Villa Hills.
