Video Depicts Unruly Crowd at City Heights
A video circulating on Facebook claims to show a "mini-riot" at Covington's City Heights.
The video has been shared more than a thousand times and viewed more than 64,000 times.
It shows some scuffling and chairs being tossed as a large crowd is gathered in Todd Court.
The River City News reached out to Covington Police for official details on what happened.
Captain Brian Valenti said officers were dispatched to Todd Court on Monday at around 9:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a fight. Some officers were quickly sent away because once there, nothing was happening, he said.
Notes from the call indicate that people ran from the scene when the police showed up.
"I reviewed the body camera videos of the four officers who were on scene and while there were lots of people out, there was nothing depicted like what was in the video that was posted," Valenti said.
He added that one person said that there were knives in the crowd and that chairs were being thrown. Officers were on the scene for about fifteen minutes, walking arounfd the area to check things out.
There are no police reports from the incident, Valenti said, because nothing was observed other than "lots of people milling about."
