High school football is back in Northern Kentucky.
Friday night lights lit up again as many local teams took to the field to kick off the new season.

Elsewhere, across the River Cities, there are a bunch of shut-outs and routs to report. Newport Central Catholic had no trouble with Scott, with the Thoroughbreds winning, 41 to 0. Bishop Brossart shut down Dayton, 21 to 0. Pikeville drilled Holy Cross 46 to 0. Highlands ran away from Cooper 36 to 7.
Across the region, Lloyd doubled-up East Jessamine, 24 to 12. Simon Kenton escaped Meade County, 29 to 28. Campbell County had no trouble with Dixie Heights, 34 to 3. Covington Catholic beat Ryle, 40 to 7. Grant County won over Owen County, 48 to 13. Pendleton County beat Gallatin County 35 to 6. Walton-Verona shut out West Jessamine, 14 to 0.
Bellevue plays Nicholas County at Covington Catholic on Saturday at 12:30.
