State Rep. Adam Koenig Receives Two Awards for his Leadership on HB2

The Kentucky League of Cities (KLC) presented Representative Adam Koenig, an Erlanger native who represents Kentucky's 69th district in the house, with a 2018 “Friend of Kentucky Cities” award Tuesday night at a Florence City Council meeting. Wednesday, the Kentucky Restaurant Association (KRA) presented Rep. Koenig with a “Friend of the Industry” award at its Board of Directors meeting held at the Hofbrauhaus in Newport.

Rep. Koenig garnered attention from both the KLC and the KRA for his leadership on House Bill 2 in the 2018 Regular Session of the General Assembly - which provides the first major improvement in the state’s workers’ compensation law in more than 20 years, ensuring better care of injured workers while helping control costs.

“We are thankful for the continued support of Representative Koenig, who has been a longtime advocate for cities,” said J.D. Chaney, KLC Deputy Executive Director. “His leadership in 2018 on workers’ compensation reform helped ensure local governments and other employers can continue to take care of their employees while also ensuring financial responsibility to taxpayers.

"We look forward to working with him in 2019,” Chaney continued.

Jerry Houck, a Chairman for the KRA, says that Rep. Koenig's work on HB2 will attract new companies to Kentucky, and allow existing ones to grow.

"Throughout his tenure in the legislature, he has been sensitive to the issues facing Kentucky’s 7,500 eating and drinking establishments," Houck said. "His sponsorship of this year’s workers’ comp legislation that will reduce costs for employers not only in our industry but for all those who provide jobs for Kentuckians is certainly deserving of recognition."
