Mercedes-Benz of Fort Mitchell will erect a freeway-visible LED sign along the property border along I-75 for its nearly completed 52,000 sq. ft. showroom on the site of the old USA Hotel in Fort Mitchell.

Contractor EGC will erect the sign with a crane on Friday. The LED sign includes the classic Mercedes-Benz three-point star emblem on a blue background so that at night the illuminated emblem will be prominent.

The 65-feet high sign will be the largest Mercedes-Benz sign to be erected throughout the globe.  Additional signage and lighting will feature LED low lighting that is neighborhood-friendly and saves on energy costs.

The seven-acre site adjacent to I-75 in Fort Mitchell was a point of contention for years until Mercedes-Benz began demolition last February.  The project has been racing towards completion and the company will hold its grand opening events in October.

“We are celebrating the achievement of replacing a problem property that was an eyesore for the community with a vibrant showplace for Mercedes-Benz automobiles and Sprinter passenger commercial vans,” said Marketing Manager Dan Bell in a news release.  “The excitement is building with the completion drawing near and now that people can see the building and signage, it is becoming a reality.”

Mercedes-Benz of Fort Mitchell will have state-of-the-art features including the look of a southern mansion entranceway, low lighting, technology featured throughout and a drive that includes cobblestones and brick pavers.

Residents can watch the progress of the new facility from the comfort of their homes through the company’s webcam that is located on site.  A real-time construction cam is streaming live at the website: http://www.mbftmitchell.com/2.html.
