Be Awesome at Community Change-Makers Conference in Covington
More than a hundred people who seek to change their communities in a positive way will be in Downtown Covington Thursday for the Awesome Collective of Covington's Be Awesome: A Mini-Conference for Community Change-Makers.
The keynote speakers include Griffin Van Meter, one of the folks behind the "Kentucky Kicks Ass" guerilla marketing campaign, Seth Beattie and Brian Friedman from the Collinwood neighborhood of Cleveland, and Kurt Gohde & Kremena Todorova from the Lexington Tattoo Project.
Most of the events will take place at the Madison Theater with others scheduled for Covington Arts, the Arcade on Pike Street, Garden Grove Organics, Step-N-Out Dance Studio, The Point Logo & Design, bioLOGIC, Grateful Grahams, Hub + Weber Architects, and the Gateway Community & Technical College Urban Center.
Breakout session topics include "Your Imaginary Neighborhood". "The Service Learning Challenge", "Subversive Gardening: Making Friends", "Works On or IN Paper", and "Steps to Finding Your Dream Job". These sessions will be led by community change-makers from Covington and elsewhere.
The River City News Editor & Publisher Michael Monks will serve as emcee of the event.
