Metal Grate Stolen from Newport Bar

UPDATE (Wednesday 7 a.m.): Crazy Fox owner Carl Fox reports at The River City News Facebook page that the suspects have been captured. "We caught the crooks but the grate is gone. They did find an iPad that was stolen that morning but we will have to get a new grate made," Fox wrote.

ORIGINAL POST:

A metal grate was stolen from the exterior of the Crazy Fox Saloon at 901 Washington Avenue in Newport.

The Crazy Fox recently completed a major exterior restoration and was recognized by the city for their work.

The grate was one created for the restoration and matches the one seen in the photo attached to this article.

The bar owners say the suspects were captured on video in the act.

They are described as a group of three white males in their late thirties or early forties, or possibly older. They pull dollies with red handles and a large square cart with four wheels. The owners spotted them going back and forth on Ninth Street over the past several days.

The suspects were spotted near the scene again on Sunday.

The value of the grate exceeds $500 which would make the theft a felony case. If you see these men or know any information, contact Newport Police at 859.292.3622.
