Woman Transported After Car Strikes Bike

A woman was transported to a local hospital after she was struck by a vehicle while on her bike Thursday afternoon.

Covington Police and EMTs responded to the 500 block of Scott Boulevard where a silver Chevrolet Cavalier was stopped in the middle of the street. That vehicle was turning out of the Midtown Parking Garage. A witness told The River City News that the woman on the bike had waved for the car to proceed and after a period of time in which neither moved, the collision occurred.

As the Cavalier proceeded up Scott between the Kenton County Public Library and the Gateway Community & Technical College Urban Center, a group of people standing on the sidewalk smoking rushed out to the street to stop the car.

After emergency responders arrived, the woman on the bike was placed in a neck brace and on a stretcher and then transported from the scene.

The driver of the Cavalier was not cited and was permitted to leave.
